: Cletrac/Heil Tracked Fuel Trailers : loganov April 07, 2016, 01:21:48 PM Hey everyone, new member here. I have an interest in military vehicles and have been familiar with the rubber band Cletrac tractors that served with the US in WWII for many years, but I came across something I'd never seen before today.
(https://cdn.loc.gov/service/pnp/fsa/8d24000/8d24300/8d24303r.jpg) (https://www.loc.gov/resource/fsa.8d24303/) https://www.loc.gov/resource/fsa.8d24303/ (https://www.loc.gov/resource/fsa.8d24303/) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v132/loganov/CletracTrailer.png~original) Apparently these are Cletrac 600 gallon tracked fuel trailers produced in WWII. It seems as though Cletrac made the suspension and Heil made the tanks. I'd never head of them before. Does anyone anything more about them? Designation, number produced, etc.? Also, this is the only photo I've ever seen of these. Does anyone know of any other photos of these? : Re: Cletrac/Heil Tracked Fuel Trailers : tknierim April 27, 2016, 09:49:30 AM That is very interesting, never seen anything like them. Undercarriage sure looks right though.
: Re: Cletrac/Heil Tracked Fuel Trailers : wanderingwillys January 29, 2017, 03:56:05 PM I've never seen fuel trailers like those but I do have two very poor quality image of cargo trailers built off the same platform...
It's interesting there is so little documentation out there for these units... Matt : Re: Cletrac/Heil Tracked Fuel Trailers : vj February 09, 2017, 07:12:51 PM Well, never seen one , but looks great. :)
