1  Cletrac Tractor Discussion / HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / Re: IXK3 starter parts on: December 06, 2018, 07:56:40 PM
Thank You for the help fellas. thanks to your part number I was able to find this https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-STARTER-DRIVE-MPLS-MOLINE-WHITE-OLIVER-HERCULES-COCKSHUTT-COMBINE-HARVESTER/360826502271?hash=item5402ef7c7f:g:MqcAAMXQnYJQ9Nsl:rk:11:pf:0 on ebay. Unfortunatley the price is out of the range I can justify at the current time. But it gives me needed information to possibly find another source. Lots of times I make what I can but this is a little out of my capability as of now.

2  Cletrac Tractor Discussion / HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / IXK3 starter parts on: December 03, 2018, 10:09:35 PM
I have been working on my HG and turns out that the bendix/drive gears are pretty much shot. The gear snaps in as it should but the threads are so worn it jambs up and won't release. Is there a source for these parts? It could use a set of brushes too. I have had pretty good luck finding delco parts but not so much on autolites based on past experience.

By any chance anyone have an exploded view of the starter? I have a sneaking suspicion there is extra spacers/washers in there and I want to double check against something.

Thanks,
Dave

Things have been slow I thought maybe this would kickstart some discussion.

I am hoping to finish up my HG-42 and then finally after 10 years get to start work on my E-62.

This particular machine is pre-Oliver. The casting date codes would indicate it is a 1941. It does have the aluminum tag on the block, but like usual the serial tag is missing. I would lean towards this being the original block but no proof other than it has '41 in the casting codes.

Hey Guys.

I was just thinking about my ole E-62 that I'd like to begin restoring soon. I got to wondering what Cletrac or the aftermarket sold to go along with the model E. Actually I had the idea to build a loader for the machine with a bucket and forks. Sure would be handy for loading logs into the sawmill. At anyrate, I can't remember ever seeing a picture of an E with anything on it. Anyone have pictures of model E working, or with attachments mounted up.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it did anything. I don't remember any tubes being hooked to it, but it was 2011 when I tore the motor down. Perhaps they thought it was noisy gears at one point. When I tore it down I learned that the 1/8 inch of clearance in the #1 rod and #1 main was causing the odd rattle sound it had. Then life got in the way of funtime so it was put on hold until I could get the babbit redone which just got finished up this week. It was a slow process of waiting for other to be able to help and me learning about it.

At anyrate I picked up an 1/8npt brass plug to put in its place. This poor machine had an extremely rough life.

8  Cletrac Tractor Discussion / HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / HG42 IXK3 timing cover question on: March 15, 2018, 11:46:51 PM
Alright guys. I am working on my 1941 HG with IXK3 engine. It has a small pipe/tube coming out of the top of the timing cover. I don't recall seeing this in any pictures of any other HGs I have found online. Did someone drill and tap this hole to add an oil return line? maybe extra oil to the timing gears? Do I need to worry about it or just plug it? You can see it in the picture I have attached.

Thanks,
Dave

Good Thinking,

I actually need to make a toolbox for under the seat of my HG.

I just made up a Battery Box for an Allis WD I am working on (Not Mine, if thats a good or bad) so maybe a toolbox would be easily doable too.

Bob, if you can throw out a picture or two and some dimensions it would be greatly appreciated.

Attaching a picture of the WD box for comparison

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Guys,

Some of you have probably seen my belt pulley thread. I have the idea to make some parts to help guys get their machines going again, and bring in some extra income for me.

What kinds of parts do you guys need that I may be able to make. I have a lathe and bridgeport to work with.

I have a hard time figureing out what to ask for work, but I'm looking at about $250. It's nearly 10 hours a piece. I'm sure other with better tools to work with can do the job faster, but they probably ask for more on the hour too.

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Guys,

I got ahold of some 8 inch Sch 40 pipe and completed the first pulley this week. Will begin making more soon to sell. Not sure exactly how to advertise these, might just post on ebay.

Attached a pic to show the completed pulley on the PTO housing.
