2  Cletrac Tractor Discussion / All Models Except HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / H Tin on: January 24, 2012, 10:05:19 PM
I'm looking for some H, or W tin to use for a pattern. Any condition would be OK, as long as we can make a pattern from it. Found me a good tin knocker here, and he says he can make me a hood, and side panels for my H, but something to copy would be real nice. Can anyone help me out ? Thanks.

Floyd County Historical Society has a ton of manuals. If they have it, they will send you a photo copy very reasonable. And it helps support a good cause !  http://www.olivertractormanuals.org/olivertractormanuals-2.html

Hi Roland,  Definitely count me in on the air cleaner please. I'm in pretty good shape on the other items you mention. Now, how about some hood, or side tin ??  Grin Thanks

I have no explanation on the Mag. My parts book seems to show the Teagle, and the Eisemann mags. I believe the Kingston is the correct carburetor. Does your H have the tin shrouded radiator, or the cast iron radiator ? Sounds like you have the early (more rare) version of the model H. I think my casting numbers are like June of 1918, and it's an early model.

Awesome !! Does it have the Splitdorf mag on it ? Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Congratulations !!

Sorry, I can't help you with the Splitdorf mag. It's surely possible Cleveland Tractor Co. used them, but equally possible someone installed it to replace a failed original mag. I think you are right about the air cleaner. Keep pounding the books, and internet. The old pictures I've found on the internet, and this site are worth a thousand words, especially the ones with seemingly accurate dates.

Just got Bob's email. Don't know how much help I can be, but here's what I know based on what I've learned since owning my H. I think the Early H's had Teagle Mags, then Eismann Mags on the later ones. Definitely check to see if it has cast radiator, or tin shrouded radiator. That changed around 1919 as did the tracks. Track frame splash guards changed too. Don't rush into the air cleaner yet either, they changed too, from a small engine mounted cyclone style to the big cast iron water box on the side of the hood. There may have been a different version air cleaner in between these two also. I don't know exact times for all these changes, but believe most to be around 1918-1919. All these changes were upgrades to be incorporated into the upcoming model W debut in 1919. Mine has a 1918 casting date on the rear axle housing. Can't recall my serial number off hand, but thinking it's around 3400. Mine's an early version. The later H's can be easily mistaken for W's. R's have completely different track frames, and different engine. Good luck, keep us posted !!

10  Other / Other Crawler Tractors / Re: I'm turning colors! on: June 24, 2010, 12:12:59 PM
Hey Bob ! The IH wheel tractors have date codes in the form of a letter on the larger castings. Not sure if this holds true on the crawlers. T=1950, W=1951... Z=1954, A=1955, and so forth till H which =1962.

12  Cletrac Tractor Discussion / HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / Re: 1951 Oliver Crawler/Loader with a Ware Loader on: January 05, 2010, 10:35:39 AM
Jethrow, Nice work. Judging from the casting numbers you gave, I'm gonna guess that engine was cast on either Jan. 12, 1955, or Nov 2, 1955. The tractor looks consistant with a 1955 OC-3, so that should be a pretty close estimate of it's year, as long as no one has swapped engines.

Published weight of a standard equipment W is 3418 pounds (Cletrac Specs, this websight). Where are you located ? I might be interested in the W.  Thanks.
