Hi Guys,

Brought home an FG the other day. It has an Eimco blade on it. I have heard of Eimco bulldozers and such and the Eimco Powerhorse. This winch and blade setup says it was made in Los Angelas Ca. Any info?

Guys what do you think? Two axle 35 ton detachable or 50 ton detachable? I've got an itch to buy one, but don't know what to do. 50 ton you can permit to haul heavier, but just say the truck with the 35 ton weighs 34000lbs empty can legally haul the 46000lb machine, but the truck with the 50 ton weighs 38000lbs empty would be over the 80,000 lbs weight limit. Overweight permits are quite expensive so I'm told, and fines are more.

If I was smart I would save my money and forget about it, but I need to scratch the itch!

The DDH and La Plante Choate scraper had both sat for 30 years. The DDH was bought new by the Kaluza family, who lives just over the hill from me. The scraper is owned by Chumly Duffy. I'm on the DGH. We just got the DDH running a few weeks ago, and the pan about 5 mins before video was shot. Blake is the Camera man!

A little different paint question than some.

I've got a Buckeye cable control for on my 40 Diesel. The 40 will be the brown and tan scheme. What color do you suppose the control unit would have originally been? I'm really not sure if it would have been brown. I haven't gotten into the winch yet to see if I could find orig paint on it. Any thoughts?

I was wondering what kind of 8-14.5 trailer tires people have had good luck with. I bought 6 new ones for my tag trailer, and they were cheap priced and even cheaper made. They run plenty warm to my liking. Any suggestions?

I'm takng my FDE and a friend is taking his TD24 to the National Pike show in Brownsville in a couple weeks. It is a very nice show with working demonstrations all wekend. Hope to see you there!

I just picked up an OC12 with a sideboom. I was wondering if anybody has seen such a thing before. Its built by, well somebody I can't remember the name of now... Its got 2 hydraulic operated winches on it, and an inside frame bulldozer blade. The boom itself is missing, so some pics of what to rebuild would be awesome.

I pulled the JD #15 subsoiler with my AD today. I ended up breaking the lift/depth control on the subsoiler... I'll tell ya what, it sure did make the AD grunt pulling that thing!!!

Anybody have any pics of a JD #15 subsoiler they would like to share? Mine needs some TLC and the point is cobbled. I think thats part of the reason it pulls so hard. Its geometry is thrown off...

Hey guys,

I picked up a hood, grill and radiator the other day for a BG. It came off a very early styled tractor. It should have had the louvers that go inward. I think I know the answer to my question, but wondered if someone could help confirm it. Question is: There is no hole for the air cleaner. I'm thinking the aircleaner sucked from under the hood, but have never seem an early one in person so...

Made it home with my '53 BD that I bought from Bill. Just headed to unload, and push some dirt!

On my OC18 the previous owner welded grouser bar on top of the old cleats. They are only about 3 or 3.5 inches tall now. Needless to say, they are way too tall. I'm going to trim part of them off. Any ideas on how tall I should leave them? The original grousers aren't worn that bad, but would like them to be a little higher than that. Any ideas or formulas you know of?

Well we rewired the 18 Sunday. Now it will actually start at the touch of a button from the seat!

I pulled the seat/fuel tank and got the top cover off today. I found the problem with the power turn unit...I hope... The main pressure hose going from the pump to a "T" then to the steering valves was blown. I had a new hose made, and its ready to be put back together tomorrow. Hopefully pushing dirt this weekend!

I'm thinking about taking a Cletrac probably a B, with a junk UC and putting wheels under it. I'm thinking of using the tandem set of axels off a grader. Probably remove the finals from the tractor, and run a chain and sprocket from the pinion to the input on the grader axels. Will have to go with a very small sprocket on the pinion and a decent size one on the axels. Figure if I do it right it should turn out to be a neat outfit.

Any ideas? This isn't something thats gonna happen soon.. Been thinking about this for several years now.

I was thinking again. If a guy was in need of new chains and sprockets for a tractor, why not find an undercarriage set (wheels, and chains) that was the right size for the machine, and instead of worrying about the pitch, just cut the center of the sprocket out and weld a new set of teeth on the outside. If I'm not mistaken, they make weld on sprocket rings. It would be time consuming, but very do-able.

Well I finally managed to get the clutches landed and bolted in. I would have taken pictures, but I would have had to blurr out all the cuss words, leaving no picture left... I think it will be a nice tractor when I'm done tho. My lifting strap is caught between the brake drum, trans. housing, and brakeband. I think I may have to light it on fire to get it out...

I think I'm finally on the down hill side. Brakebands is the next thing...

Worked on my EHD2 over the weekend. Finally got it going. I did a valve job, and put it together, and I could only get it to run on 2&3. I checked timing, right on. Cleaned injectors, no go. Swapped injectors, and still the same. Finally found that the delivery valves in the injection pump were stuck open just enough to let fuel thru, but not build any pressure. Got that fixed and it fired right up.

Anybody else have any experiences with Buda diesels? How do they compare to the Hercules diesels? I'm going to find out eventuely...

I was working on my DG today. Finally got some spark, but wouldn't fire. I dumper gas into the cylinders. It finally fired, and backfired, catching the spilled gas on fire, all down the side of the engine. Luckily it was somewhat of a controled fire... No damage whatsoever. I even came out with my eyebrows!

Ended up the gas in the tank was old and wouldn't fire. I did get it running, but not too well. It has a stuck valve. It is atleast out to where I can work on it now.

Never a dull moment in the life of Bob!
