HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / OC-3 Springs
February 06, 2013, 05:30:22 AM
Hi.
We have been slowly getting the OC-3, 31 ready. Trouble is one of the main springs is broken.

Does anyone know if it is possible to weld the spring? Does anyone know of any substitutes that would work?

Thank you in advance.

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / OC-3-31 and Anderson Dozer
October 16, 2012, 05:04:32 AM
Hi.
We are putting an Anderson dozer on an OC-3-31. This is the dozer with the over-the-hood single ram.

I have seen pictures of snowplows with what looks to be an Anderson dozer lift on them.

The dozer was originally on a 41".

Does anyone have an Anderson mounted on an OC-3-31? What should we watch for? It looks like it will work out, with a bit of work. We plan on narroring the lift frame so that it lifts inderneath the frame, rather than outside of it.

Does anyone have any pictures of anything like this? Will it work?

Thanks.

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / HG-31 Again
June 04, 2010, 05:19:55 AM
Hi.
Another question on the 31".

In my father's last issue of the HPOCA magazine, page 46 (I thnk), there is a picture of a 31" at the 2010 winter show. There is another picture of that exact crawler from the other side on the magazine website (www.partparroliver.org/albums/2010hpoca ... TER_28.jpg).

Are those the correct fenders for the 31"? Is that the correct place for the battery?

Any idea what those chains are for hanging under the frame?

Does anyone kow whose crawler that is?

Thanks.

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / 31 vs 42
March 13, 2010, 06:00:18 AM
Hi. Here is probably a foolish question. What are the main differences between an OC-3-31 and an OC-3-42? Aside from the obvious difference in width. I saw a few pictures in old HPOCA magazines that show the 31 inch with the final drives rolled back. This makes it seem shorter than the 42. What else is there? I flipped quickly through the parts book and saw the steering levers and hood (?) were different too.

Oh yeah. How stable is the 31 inch on the side hills? We do not have many flat spots here.

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / OC-3-31 Engine
March 08, 2010, 05:24:32 AM
Hi.
I just saw an OC-3-31 today with an engine with a distibutor rather than a mag. It appears in every other way to be the correct Hercules engine. Did they use distributors on some engines?

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / OC-3 Canvas Cab
March 08, 2009, 05:57:13 AM
Hi.
I just received a parts book for the OC-3 from Landis Zimmerman. In the back section it lists a canvas cab for the OC-3. Has anyone ever seen such a thing? Does anyone have pictures of one? Has anyone made a reconstruction of one? It would be interesting.

HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / Hercules 3 cylinder gas
December 03, 2008, 06:15:01 AM
Hi. I am just new to your forum. It looks helpful.

Two quick questions.

One. How expensive would you say a complete rebuild of the Hercules 3 cylinder gas engine is compared to the four cylinder used in the OC3? I am thinking of gaskets, rings, bearings. I have rebuilt the four cylinder and found it quite expensive. I hope the three cylinder is cheaper.

Second. What is the firing order? I figure it is either 1-3-2, which would make sense, or 1-2-3 which would make no sense.

Thank you.

Kevin
