Did you change anything since you had it running last?

If you've had the engine all redone are you sure of the valve train timing? All the adjustments in spark timing won't help if your vavles aren't opening at the right time.

ok what was done was....... head was removed..... oilpan removed,  block honed,,, new pistons and rings installed,,new main and rod bearings installed,,, and thats about it, just everything put back together,,, now nothing........
Title: Engine does not run

First question: Do the plugs become wet after trying to start it. Second question. Do you have the plug wires in the right order. Third question Do you have spark going to the cylinder when it is on the compression stroke? Without checking back how did you verify #1 TDC was on the compression stroke.?

ok plugs become wet,  yes it's kinda getting gas,,,
plug wires on corectly
spark on cyl on compression
ok number one tdc.  turned engine over untill i got compression on #1 then long screwdriver into the cyl and turned  engine untill  movement stopped and before  piston started it's downward travel

How much compression do you have? How far will  the spark jump. Me, I would put #1 on valve overlap, put a mark on the front pulley, turn the engine one full turn, and then turn the distributor untill the points open and it sends aspark to number one cylinder? Did you double check valve clearance?

ok did that,,,,
 compression  around 105psi
even tried  putting  #1 almost at  tdc... putting gas in through sparkplug hole,, adjusting  dis untill i got spark on  #1......  put gas in toher 3 cyl replaced sparkplugs.... and yes i'm getting spark..... ant  tried turning over the engine,,, still nothing.... not even a poof or pop

Just one thought on this.  When things go wrong and you've checked all the big things it can be the silliest things thats the problem, is the petrol your using fairly fresh? its not an old can?

i'm at a total loss.......

Seems to me if you have fuel delivery, compression, and ignition that the only thing left is to get them together at the same time. Is it possible your 180 degrees out? Firing on TDC of the exhaust stroke is a place where you wouldn't ever get a pop or backfire.
