Title: Help with DD
Post by: kwiese on October 06, 2005, 02:56:08 AM
I have a 1948 DD. The crawler will not make any power. I've had the injection pump and govenor overhauled. Crawler will start and run, but has a miss in it. When placed under a load ( will not even pull itself thru a turn) the crawler bogs down and will die. Any suggestions or advice.

Thanks

Well if it starts and runs and the injector pump is good. Then I would think it is lack of fuel or air. So I would check for dirty fuel lines and filters and the oil bath air filter.   Will the engine rev up to rated speed when not under load?

does the engine fuel smoke under a load ?white or black,if not you may have a fuel supply problem,if it white smokes you may have low compression or the pump timing is off, also did you have the injectors checked if there is a miss all of the time you could have a bad injector or intake /exhaust valve problems, you might try opening the injector lines one at a time and see if you are getting fuel to all cyl. and this might help locate a missing cyl. like pulling a spark plug wire off a gas engine.
