Title: OC-3 Loader/backhoe at auction
Post by: jyeames on October 10, 2005, 08:07:31 PM
Just stumbled accros this October 15, 2005 Minnesota auction notice with a picture of what looks to be a very nice 1959 OC-3.

Just thought I'd pass it on.

Here's the picture:

I think it's the same Oliver backhoe that I have.

Those look like counter weights in the bucket. Is the backhoe assembly made to disconnect easily? Also my OC-3 hyd pump drives off the crankshaft. Does this machine use a PTO drive?

The HG we have - that used to have the backhoe - has the pump in the front. The backhoe outriggers are manual and you just filled the loader bucket with dirt as a counterweight. I guess my uncle tipped the tractor on its side several times while using the backhoe.

That sure looks like an OC 4 to me.  The hyd pump would be off the front of the crank.  Had one for 20 years, very good hyd pump, a gear pump with needle bearings not bushings like most cheap pumps have.
