Title: HG frame Reinforcements
Post by: VaMike on March 24, 2006, 12:16:19 PM
Saw a show on RFD TV last night that featured a resored HG 68. The owner talked about a U bolt kit and frame reenforcements as engine HP was increased by the factory.
 Anyone know anymore?
Best,
Mike

Awww! I missed it. Was it on "Machinery of the Past" or "The Tractor Show"?

Title: ubolt kit

that was a kit that could be added to HG crawlers. the frame did not extend between the axle housing and transmission case on the early models. it consisted of a wood block, ubolt and frame bracket.

I think it was "Classic Tractor Calender" 1995. They mix , match and re-edit these shows so much it's hard to keep them straight.

I noticed most of the shows are in Canada and the general area. I don't think i've ever seen them do anything in the south.

Title: Axle- Main frame reinforcement

The HG parts book shows this U-bolt reinforcement in some of the pictures.  It looks like it consists of an angle iron added to the end of the main frame and a u-bolt around the countershaft housing with a shaped block between the angle iron and the housing, to act as a spacer.  I think the block is iron.
