Hello:
I am interested in purchasing an AG-6. The unit is complete, less side shields, and the owner says that it runs perfectly. He is asking $1000.
What are AG-6s worth?

Mike,
First, welcome to the forum. You have asked a good question - there are a lot of factors that go into the price (here are some):
1. Location - can you gauge if any local interest in Cletracs?
2. Undercarriage & tracks condition; overall maintained well? Abused?
3. Paint / sheetmetal condition - stored inside or out for most of its life?
4. Accessories (low range transmission, PTO, blade, hydraulics)
5. Missing items (side curtains, battery box, tool box, gauges & controls, lights are commonly missing, and their presence or absence can change the value substantially from a collector's point of view).
6. Modifications (non-original engine, etc)
7. What are your plans for the machine?
a. if you are planning to use it as is, some things can be overlooked.
b. if you are planning to restore it, missing items are costly
8. Can you try it out to see?
9. Do you have photos (post them)?
Overall, it might be a pretty fair price. Ask lots of questions! That's what we are here for.

Thanks for the reply.
I have been interested in this unit for years. Finally the owner offered to sell. His father bought the unit new. It has been well maintained. And it was stored inside until 1996. Now outside in the wet pacific northwest.

I can not tell. A lot of old crawler fans, but not a mature market for Cletracks- too few units.
2. Undercarriage & tracks condition; overall maintained well? Abused?
No abuse. Everything appears in good shape. Do not know enough to determine wear condition. (I grew up farming with wheel tractors)
3. Paint / sheetmetal condition - stored inside or out for most of its life?
Tired paint. Good sheetmetal.
4. Accessories (low range transmission, PTO, blade, hydraulics)
PTO. No evidence of hydraulics. No blade.
5. Missing items (side curtains, battery box, tool box, gauges & controls, lights are commonly missing, and their presence or absence can change the value substantially from a collector's point of view).
All there except orig. batt box and side curatins missing.
6. Modifications (non-original engine, etc)
Stock
7. What are your plans for the machine?
a. if you are planning to use it as is, some things can be overlooked.
I'd like to use it to run grain augers and move trucks when loading in wet conditions.
b. if you are planning to restore it, missing items are costly
Just clean it up and paint it.
8. Can you try it out to see?
Yes.
9. Do you have photos (post them)?
How do I post photos here for members to inspect?

that sounds like a fair price for a good running crawler .as in all crawlers the money is in the undercarriage. be sure the track rollers and front idlers are not loose. look at the amount of adjustment left for the tracks.
usually the first check you write is the cheapest.
good luck
Mike,
Sounds like you've got a good opportunity with that AG-6, and it matches your needs. Experience tells me to agree with Walter - the first check is the smallest!
As for posting photos, search the site for photobucket - the photo has to be stored on the net somewhere - then just make reference to it's URL. There's a couple of posts with instructions.
We look forward to seeing the photos.
Good luck!
