Title: Water pump
Post by: cletracboy on November 07, 2002, 10:26:20 AM
I have taken the water pump off my BD with a DJXC engine in it and taken it to a pump rebuilders who are having a great deal of difficulty in removing the gear off the end of the shaft, he has found the hole in the shaft to lock it.  Which he says indicates it should screw off, but it doesn't want to move.  He has taken it to the local Universitys engineering department and it has out smarted them too.  Can any of you tell me how it can be removed as we need to remove it to service the pump.

Find someone with a parts book - it should show what the shaft looks like. I bet it's not threaded on - maybe a key or roll pin. Did it have a pin in it? What is the hole?

Standing at the side looking at the engine and water pump. At the distrbutor there is a gear that is keyed on. to left is the main pump bearing and the next left of it is the drive gear IT IS PART OF THE SHAFT!!  Hope this helps !
