Jessica,
Not sure if you had an interest in a particular Cletrac BG or BG's in general. If you want to reference some photos, there are some in the photo section on this site, here's the link:

I had already tried looking at the pictures on the website but the one that we are looking at the fuel tank is right in your lap and the hood is different but nothing looks to be modified. I am trying to find out what the exact year of a certain Cletrac crawler is, or whether it is not all there, but I can not find a picture of this particular model, it is a 3C34.
Thank you Jessica

If the tank is rounded, and the hood is very square, this model pre-dates the "styled" versions, so it's probably pre-1940's. If you can, check the firewall for the serial# model number plate. That should help with the identification. Also - gas or diesel, 4 or 6 cylinder?
Yes, the tank is rounded and it is a 6 cylinder gas and believe it is a hercules. The serial number is on the right hand side, as you are sitting on the machine. Do you now how rare this machine is? Or is it just plain jane?
Thanks,
Jessica
I have some basic information I can snail mail you. Send me a P. M. with your address. I am in Ohio also.

OK, now I understand -- 3C34 is the serial number! The BG 6 had a 6 cylinder engine -- Hercules model JXD. The engines started with serial number 936242
Yesterday's Tractors lists the BG 6 as starting in 1940 with serial number 3C000. I have another source that shows the BG 6 started in 1939, with serial number 3C000. Not sure who's right. John S will likely provide that for you!
So, it appears the tractor you're looking at may be one of the earliest BG 6 tractors.
General opinion -- any unstyled Cletrac is pretty rare and worth saving or restoring. Glad you've taken on the project.

Hey there Digger,
Have you been hard at work on that Crawler?
Photo updates?
Hope all is well.
Does your BG have one or two speeds in reverse? The radiator does not look to be original. With the JXD engine it should have two speeds in reverse, and the serial number should have 3 digits after the C. If it has only one speed it should have a JXC engine.
If I am not mistaken that tractor should be a 1936. '35 was the last year for the numbered series, (the 25) and in 1937 they went streamlined. Unless someone changed the tinwork to the unstyled like it is I would say it is a 1936 no matter what the engine # is.

That's cool. Sounds like you are moving along. Share photos when you get a chance. Thanks for the update.
Do you have a book for that Digger? I have an extra orig for a streamliner that should be basically the same if you want.
Bob
