Title: Plenty of Questions Guy - Gets a Suprise
Post by: 550DarrinWI on April 24, 2007, 04:04:43 AM
I thought that welding was just a poor job of mounting an aftermarket seat. . .Took the cover off and suprise!

Anyone have an empty trans/diff case they want to sell?

I'm not sure how to post photos on this forum, but I put a picture over on www.ytmag.com (http://www.ytmag.com)

I've seen similar problems like yours before. I have a couple of those housings, but shipping from here would not be cost effective. If you get desperate, let me know. Esev
Title: craked trans/dif housing

I'm still trying to figure out what cracked it and why there?  I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.  I had a guy offer to sell me a housing, but you said it, shipping a hunk of iron that big would be a budget buster.

That one busted out pretty bad. The ones I have seen were cracked on the top through the seat mounting bolt holes. Another case of small machine asked to do a lot of big work. There is a lot of stress on that little casting when you add up the combined forces of the finals, drawbar load, and operator all hanging off it !! Add a loader to the picture and the stresses get even greater. I see very few of these machines that have had loaders on them, that do not have some sort of repairs done to them.

I'm in Menomonie.  Woodbury is not a problem for me if you have the part (or additional parts - the more I wrench, the more problems I find) and the price is right.

I know the HG is virtually the same. . .would the HG trans/diff case match up?

Sometimes HG and OC stuff is not interchangable. I tried to fit an HG bull gear on my Oliver and although it looked the same it was just a little bit different in important places.

In the HG/OC3 world, some parts work, some parts can be modified to work and some parts just don't fit.  Everyone has to do their homework on this one.  Many parts interchange, but not all!

Darrin, let me know if you got my PM.

Mike,

I don't think I did get your PM?  I've been out of town and will not get back until late Friday.  I still have your number and I certainly still want to swing by and see your project and take a look at your parts.  Hopefully I'll be able to give you a call over the weekend.
