I have a OC3-42-IND, SN 10WH-112 (1951?) with a blade. I bought it from my uncle about 5 years ago. The engine runs great, but the tranny locked up and won't move. It will only start if you apply the clutch, looking at the manual the shifting fork is the problem. I removed the rear plate and found that the large gear (frizbie size) has broken all the gears on the inside. It looks like this will be costly. Any help would be great.
In order for us to help you, you need to have a parts book for the OC3. Use sections 18 and 19 to identify the broken part. Once we know the actual part we can then offer advice.
I would also suggest an OC3 Instruction Manual. Copies of both these manuals are available. One of the best places to obtain them is Zimmerman Oliver-Cletrac in Ephrata PA.

The transmission housing holds both the transmission and the differential. The front half of the housing is the transmission. When worn these transmissions can get into two gears at once and lock everything up. Taking the shift lever out and using a long screw driver to but the 1st/reverse and 2nd/3rd sliding gears into nuetral may fix your problem.
The back half of the housing contains the differential and brake bands. If the differential is broken all is not lost. These can be repaired and parts to fix them can be found. What an adventure (and education) you have comming through that machine.

I do have an instruction manual-yes it is the differential that the gears are broken on. It sounds like i need to buy a parts manual also. What year is my crawler? Model 0c3-42-IND Serial number 10WH-112.
Any help would be appreciated. Haven't had time to work on the shifter yet.

In my Oliver Data Book there is no mention of a 10WHxxxx...1952 started with 3WH712...1953 started with 350000...1954 started with 450000 and 1955 started with 11WH760.
Make sure of your numbers. 11, 15 and 19 were used in '55 through '57, before the WH. 1WH0000 began the 1951 production year. Look closer to be sure your number is correct.

10WHxxx would be a 1952, fairly late in the year. I think that '52 would have been the first year of the "IND" option with the introduction of the full frame transaxle mount.
Also probably the first year for the "straight" fenders and the "rollback" axle option. My late 1951 OC3 still has the 4 bolt transaxle mount and the older rounded fenders. I sure do get tired of tightening the tranny bolts!!
