Okay, am I missing something here? My instruction manual says, "Remove the stud nuts holding wheel assembly to track frame, allowing wheel to drop off studs."
Well that would be great but I can't get the oil button to clear the track frame. I tried to remove the button fitting but the whole shaft just spins. I'm not sure how I could wedge shaft in place to break the oil button loose.
But more importantly can/should the wheel be removed without taking the button fitting out? The manual sure makes it sound like you can drop the wheel out without any issues. . .
IIRC, the track roller axle shaft has a flat spot on each end that is held against the bottom of the track frame by the mounting saddles (which the studs pass through). The flats ensure that the axle doesn't turn, only the roller. Remount the roller assembly then remove the button fitting. If the fitting won't turn just break it off and replace it when you have the assembly apart and on the workbench. Once the fitting is out the roller assembly should drop down.
Yeah, I discovered exactly what you stated. It got to be a late night and I should have packed it in hours before I started wrenching on the rollers.
I good night's sleep and some daylight put it all in a new perspective. They came out just fine. Time to press out some worn out bushings.
