HELLO. Does anyone know if the continental F-186 flathead 205 gas 6 cylinder engine is the same bell housing bolt pattern as the 6 cylinder flathead gas 226. I know a 226 will work, but I have a line on a 205. To replace a DOOC in my 1942 AD. I may pull the DOOC out and overhaul it while the 205 is in. THANK YOU. Phil
The F226 won't bolt into an AD. The starter is on the opposite side. As far as the 205 I don't have a clue. The 226 will bolt into an electric start E or AG4 with an OOC though.

Yes that is true on the starter. I may be wrong but did they not make a AG6 with the 226 engine replacing the DOOC because of war shotages. I thought the 226 engine used a round ring to adapt to the transmission instead of using the hercules DOOC. If I am wrong on this let me know. THANK YOU. BOB
The F226 replaced the OOC not the the DOOC (diesel) It was because of the war. Send me a PM. and we can discuss it.
John is right. Sorry for the unclarity.
