Title: Oil Filter IXK Engine - Options

Hi Folks: Hope everyones winter is going along well!! Snow here in the North Country and I finally got my first HG home. Built during WWII, serial number matches with 1942 production year.
I have been carefully studying the machine and its needs so that it can begin work on the Christmas Tree farm. Question I have is... was an oil filter and base optional on the Hercules IXK blocks????
The Hercules IXK Engine in this machine does not have any oil filter or base for the oil filter to reside on.
I was thinking that maybe I should proceed to NAPA and set up a new remote spin on system as an upgrade. My only question regarding that approach is will that create a lower pressure than what is required for qood oil distribution in the block??
Sure would like to hear how your IXK engine oil systems are set up and if you have added any options on the oil filtering side of things. I want to keep the engine oil as clean as possible and it looks like I will need to at least add an old bail type fram remote system or better yet maybe a new NAPA remote system.. I have been told that some produced during war time came without oil filters,but i do not have anything in print too back it up .

The easiest thing would be to find one off a parts machine . Any HG ,OC3, or OC4 [4cyl.] will work . They use the same filter as Oliver wheel tractors.

Rocky: Thanks for the link, I was able to find one locally today, but I do not believe my block is machined to accept one. Snowing here now, with 1 foot on the ground so the machine has to sit til spring. Thanks for the help.. hope I can return the favor. Orangeman
