Title: Hercules IX-5 Parts Availability
Post by: jimybud on December 16, 2007, 03:46:57 AM
I am looking to purchase a rebuild kit for the water pump on my IX series engine.

Couuld a reader provide a contact of who carries the parts and comments as to their fairness of prices.

Does NAPA or any other automobile part store sell Hercules parts?

I do not want to have the pump rebuilt, I merely would like to buy the basic parts, such as the bushings, seals and gaskets.

Any information would be appreciated

Remember I told you yesterday that the 3 gear engines and the 5 gear engines do not use the same water pumps. Your pump is a gear drive mounted on the side of the engine and the 3 gear engines use a front mounted belt drive pump. Now you show all thes pictures but the key one is what type of seal. There are 3 different ones. Also the surface the seal rides on will need to be recut (machined) Send me a picture of the seal on my e-mail,

I have to plow the snow this morning, and then I will send you a few photographs of the seal and related springs, bushing and impeller.

A separate question, when you mention 3 gear versus 5 gear, does that mean that if the engine was removed from the appliance and I was looking at the front of it, that I would be able to see either 3 or 5 gears depending upon the engine model?  And, are these gears driven by only the driveshaft?

Any information would be appreciated.
