Hello all, new to this site as a member but have been reading around since summer. Early april an elderly family member who was afarmer/mechanic/handy man/antique collector/bachelor passed away. He was in his 84th year and as he put it "Had seen enough anyway".I had never met any one who knew as much mechanical knowledge,or just any.He could fix anything that was brought to him. He started his training and collecting in AUBURNDALE,AB CANADA. His packrat habits he came by honestly, his father sent 3 rail cars back home here to NB in 1946. One car was livestock 1was household goods and the other equipment left from homesteading.Oh yes, somebody had to stay with the livestock. This would have been "Bill". This was 1946 ,from this point he started collecting on his own. He worked at everything he could put his hands and his mind to ,collecting as he went. His main love was threshing machines, but on this coast we don't have many.Lumbering was his new way to enjoy/work his time away. Later on he carried on with his parents farm still collecting. When Bill died in April we had the small job of cleaning out the farm house ,barn and grounds. All contents in the house were antiques and he was not one to be shy .He loved to tell and show what people used to use to work with .He always said if he got 1 of some thing he would start a collection! True to his word. I inherited the tractor /equipment collection as I seemed tobe the only one with an interest at the time. In it I have become the owner of a OC3(anderson dozer),OC3(Ware),aCletracGG,a BF AVERY,an OLIVER 70, aCockshutt540, a Dexta(gas) and several antique engines. Most of the plows and other farm equipment had been given away as this is how he was. The only plows which meant anything were the breaking plow and 4 bottom which came from Alberta. The plows (comicly)are put away in the barn ,couldnt see them sit in the snow, the tractors are put away with the crawlers, the Dexta has been given away(sorry Ford guys ,I don't like blue)and the GG or the BF will be the first rebuilds. All run except for the Oliver, this is just a lawn ornament. As long as I have wasted this much of everybodys time ,can anybody post apicture of a GG or BF with the cultivators installed ? I have maybe a set and a half, maybe two sets. The man these tractors belonged to would have a picture in his head, alot of things he drew the pictures of either to never forget but more than likely just to keep his brain busy but I've yet to find it though 9 mths of looking through his book "collection".
