Title: Diesel swaps for BG
Post by: herkirk on August 11, 2008, 07:47:11 AM
Hello to all after a long absence.  I was wondering once again about a diesel for my BG.  Did all BGs and BDs have 6 cylinder engines?  And would a Hercules DD298 bolt-up in place of a JXB? Thanks.

For practical purposes they all had a six. Bery early ones had a 4 cylinder. I would talk you out of DD-298 but you might want to think about a 3400., DD engines are hard to find bearings for and remember Hercules is no longer in  the engine business. See my not on the Perkins.

John, thanks for your reply.  Its just that I come across old diesels so rarely and almost never have an opportunity to get my hands on one that actually might fit my BG!  In any case, I don't really anticipate rebuilding an engine that I install---I won't live that long!  Cheers.
