Title: need help with modle ID

A relative of mine just purchased a Cletrac. serial number on tag in front of operator seat show 18098. the unit has a four cylinder wisconsin engine with a 3 +1 gm transmission. any info would be helpful.

Is this wisconsin a four cylinder inline engine or a V-4 engine?

It is not an inline engine. It is fan cooled. The crankshaft extends out the front of the engine to a pulley that runs a alternator. I am starting to think that this is a retrofit. This is set up as 12 volt electrical system. The hydraulics also run off of a shaft that is belt driven from the front of the engine. I would still like to know what this might have started out as.

It is a repower. They did use some Wisconsin engines but they were all the inline engines (before the depression) When you said it had a GM transmission I knew it was altered. I can look but will I be gone for about a week and probably will not have a chance to look it up.

I have looked through some pics and also found some paperwork that was given to us with the unit. It apears to be a W series. Possibly a W-12.
