Title: Model EN
Post by: Reed Dickinson on November 13, 2008, 08:00:01 AM
I have a model EN in great running shape that I use to maintain a dirt road on my property.  I want to paint this tractor but I am unsure what color it should be.  Xan anyone advise.  Also, did the EN have the side plates below the hood on either side of the engine.  I have seen pictures of units with and without the louvered plates.

First of all is this an unstyled or a streamlined version. If it was sold when new to a goverment agency it may have been painted in the color of that agency. Later.

Do you know what year it is?

I do not know what year it was made as I can find no ID plate on it.  Was there a factory standard color for all the EN's?

Before 1936 most of the Cletracs were a 2-tone brown, then Cletrac orange started in 1936. The real early ones were gray, but I don't have that color chart in front of me right now.

I am not sure but I don't think they made an EN styled. I think the narrowest E styled was an E-38. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard of a styled EN (E-31).

The list I have shows the EN (AKA E-31) being made from 1934 to 1939, however it does not show when or if it was styled during the run. From what I have seen, most Cletracs went from the brown/brown 2-tone to Cletrac Orange in 1936, though there were exceptions. The color change was not necessarily associated with streamlining.
