Title: Reenforcment of OC-3 rolls

Hope everyone is having a good year so far. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck reenforcing OC-3 rolls. I have an old one that has some pieces welded into place to fill in the deep valley in the casting. Does this work ? Is this hard to do?

You can take flat stock the right width . Weld and bend around the roller as you go . This will not be a long term fix  since the steel you weld on is not as wear resistant .

thanks for your information. I was thinking that the added steel would not touch the track since it is only in the deep groove. Are you saying that the steel would go across the full width of the roller floor not just in the center groove.  How thick of steel would you use?

Hello Gazer -

The rear roller might have a clearance problem if you fill the centers. The sprocket teeth run close to the original small center diameter.

When the track hangars wear the track frame moves rearward and the sprocket teeth can actually contact the roller.

I had 2 scrappers with broken rear rollers, I think from contact with the sprocket teeth.

Hey Jack:

Can you explain what you mean by the track hangers. I am stumped. Are they the hangers on the inside and outside back by the sprocket.  

I see  the parts manual shows Inner and Outer Track Frame Support Brackets.   Are those the same as the hangers, that you mention?

thanks for that tip, I hadn't given that any thought. I was thinking of the front rollers since they seem to be the ones that have the most stress on them, but I will be carefull with the rear rollers.
