Title: Yellow Paint
Post by: H. E. Webb on February 10, 2009, 12:01:17 PM
When I took off the PTO housing and the drawbar hardware I found places of yellow paint under the green that the tractor is painted.  Were yellow painted HGââ,¬â,,¢s or OCââ,¬â,,¢s available in 1949-50?  I am still not sure what the exact year of the tractor is.

There were both yellow and green ones sold up here.

We were told that the yellow ones were industrial; the green ones were considered agricultural, and therefore sales tax exempt.

The yellow ones I saw here had loaders on them. The green ones were plain, or fitted with one or the other of the dozers (single lift cylinder and overhead frame, or low profile with 2 lift  cylinders).

When I sanded down the hood of my '50 HG-31 I found yellow, then under that was green, under that was Cletrac orange, then a gray primer so I am not sure of the "original" color!
