Title: OC-3 frame
Post by: Gazer61 on April 18, 2009, 02:49:17 PM
I am restoring a 1951 OC-3 and I am wondering how available a good stub frame(pre 1952) is and how much it would cost. I have a newer frame that I was going to use but now am having second thoughts, it would not be original.  any information would be appreciated

Can you define what you mean by stub frame? I have not come across that wording in the HG manual.
I have a full HG main frame that might work for you? It came from an HG31. I will look up the serial number...I am in Upstate NY, Ontario area. But I get to MI, OH, PA from time to time, if that helps? I might have a trip to MN too.

What I mean by a stub frame is the shorter style frame used on HG and OC-3 prior to mid 1952. the newer style frame is incorporated in with the final drive assembly.
I live in NH. I first need to decide if it is worth doing it, or just use the newer style frame. Cost will be the deciding factor!

Well, I will post a couple of photos. If you want it, make me a fair offer. I will be near St. Alban's, VT pretty soon. Is that close enough to help?

It will probably end up sitting around for years otherwise...but I do have an offer on the rear U-bolt main frame support angles. I would have to grind off the rivet tops to get them off.

I will post the pics tomorrow. Let me know....Chris
