Title: Price on OC-4
Post by: Crux on October 28, 2009, 06:24:48 PM
Found a mid 50's OC-4 Tractor.Owner asking $3500. The tractor is complete, undercarrage is in good condition. It has a blade and backhoe mount but no hoe. 3 cyc gas motor but stuck. Parked 5yrs in moderate cal. climate. I'm thinking $1500. What do you think? TO much/not enough? Any recent sales? Don't want to lose it by procrastinating like I often do. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Crux

I see running ones in like condition going for that kind of cash quite often. If all that needs to be done is unstick a motor thats only stuck because it sat for a couple years it might be able to be saved pretty inexpensively. I'd offer $2500 and see what he says. Oh.. and if you get it I have a hoe attachment I'll sell ya?  :)

Will the guy let you look at it closer before you make an offer? You could pull the spark plugs and try to look inside with a bore light. You might find evidence of water damage if the exhaust was left open, or rust from condensation. There could be a big difference in what it will cost you to get it running between a slightly stuck engine and one that needs new sleeves or bored out.

In these parts  (WA, OR, ID)  that  even 2500 would be a lot of money for one not running.  There's been a few  on Craigslist up here  that claimed to run OK for 2K--2500
