Hello, i have just bought a 1950 HG68,my problem is the oil filter,i cannot find a replacment for the wix 51102 that has been on forever. wix superceded to 51105 and it is to fat. it hit the water pipe in the rear of it, otherwise it would work. someone must be sitting on some of these filters or another brand. the oliver # is 100929ASA....thank for your help...
The wix number is correct it should be a 51105. The napa part number is 1105 but wix makes there filters. Your water pipe should be real close to the block has it been bent out some how? Is the water pipe a metal tube about one inch in diameter? Things get changed over the years with different owners. You could call Zimmerman's Oliver Cletrac 717-738-2573 they might be able to help.
Hi again, the water pipe is close to the block and it is bolted to the raditor. i just put a puralator L30017 on it was very tight but it is on now i have to see if i have any leaks. thanks for the reply. buy the way the filter cost less the $8.00 at adavanced auto parts...stace
Proper selection of an oil filter is critical. Please make sure that the Purolater filter is an exact replacement for the NAPA 1105. Even though a filter will screw onto your engine, it may be different internally. Some filters use an, Anti-drain back valve, some have different filter media for different microns of filtration. Be very careful when cross referencing from one brand of filters to another brand. My personal preferance would be to by the best filter that you can afford.
Go with the NAPA 1105...
I have to agree, the NAPA filter is High Quality. NAPA is a good source of parts for old engine parts. Their catalogs show many tune up parts, filters, gaskets, etc. If they don't have the parts in stock, they can order them from the warehouse and usually get them overnight. I have bought many old car parts from NAPA over the years. Some NAPA stores even have machine shop service. It is amazing what you can find for old engines if you just know where to look.
