I'm negotiating with a scrap dealer on a HG he bought last year when scrap was $300.00 a ton.  He wants to know roughly what it weighs before he goes to the trouble of digging it out behind a scrap pile.  He doesn't want to loose money on selling it.  It has a Chev six cyl and a nice roll cage which will I know affect weight.  Unknown mechanical cond.  the tracks look like they have lots of wear left in them.  Also would appreciate any estimates of value as is.

I would also be interested in shipping weight of Model W.  It's mostly intact.  I'm not interested in it but will put anyone interested in contact with scrap dealer.

Weight of Hg would be 3000 lbs, add 100lbs if a 68 width.  The Chevy will add some too, as will the roll cage.  With the Chevy being longer there may well be frame modifications as well.
Chevy could be any one of a large number of engines from a 194 to 302.  As to valve, not much as it just a parts machine!

A complete W would be 3300 lbs

The rough weight of a HG is about 3300lbs later mode OC3 weighed about 4000lbs. If it is a HG the IXA engine is a lot lighter than a six cylinder Chevy. As far as value goes it all depends on running condition witch is unknown. Since it is not running and not knowing how professional the install was on the six banger. I would say between $300 to $800. But like most things it is only worth what someone else is willing to pay.

Thanks, for getting back to me on my question about the weight.  The Chev engine is new enough to have electronic ignition.  I'm leaning towards buying this dozer and trying to get it running again.  

I'm sure it will be more fun to work on than this old 1936 Allis Chalmers Model M dozer I just crawled out from under where I'm trying to replace the clutch. I  very successfully totally fried the clutch when I chickend out climbing a short steep burm and let it roll backwards with the clutch partially engaged.  Hard lesson learned!

I have a complete running Ford diesel out of a late 50s Hubler, I may consider putting in the HG if I find out it would be a good match up.

Published weight of a standard equipment W is 3418 pounds (Cletrac Specs, this websight). Where are you located ? I might be interested in the W.  Thanks.

Thanks for the info on posting photos and shipping weight.  I'm in the Western part of OR.  The yard owner has now decided he wants to keep the model W as a yard ornament.  I've made a deal with him on the HG.  It also has a nice hydraulic blade on it so I think it's worth the gamble not knowing what  kind of condition the mechanical parts are in.

On my old 1936 vintage AC M85 dozer, I found one of the individaul clutch disks had sheared off on and lodged against the flywheel,  Little wonder it wouldn't shift.  I had the pilot bearing in hand at the shop rebuilding the clutch.  I asked the counter guy if he knew of a shop where I could check the availablity of a new bearing.  He turned around and took one off of a stack of about eight on the shelf directly behind him. much to my amazement.

I'm sure i will have lots of questions for you on the HG when I get it home and have time to start working on it.
