Has anyone on this forum experimented with running an IXA or IXK on propane? I think it would definately work.
Would the pistons need to be changed to burn propane?
I was thinking of mounting a big tank on the right side, kinda like the old Caterpillar butane burner of years ago.
Sure would appreciate your thoughts on this subject. Many thanks... Orangeman
I bet you can get everything you need from a retired forklift. Look for one with a similar-sized engine. I don't think you'd have to change anything inside to burn propane unless you wanted to raise the compression to take advantage of propane's higher octane rating.
Most gasoline engines can be converted to propane or natural gas with a few simple changes. Jerry Biro even runs his big Hercules that is on his sawmill on natural gas!
