I'm new to this board and would like to pick the wisdom of the fellow members.. OC3.. The starters 12v or6v I know that a 6v start is made better than a 12v but I was told that these starters would brake the end of the shaft off if you go 12v ?? Are the shafts hard to find?? Ok the other thing is the bolts that hold the main frame to the trans are 5/8 soft bolts, I got new grade 5 but unclear about proper tork?? Thanks Steve
Hi 5000 nut ,Welcome to the forum , Sorry i can't help you with your question but there is some guys here that really know their stuff . Hold tight and hopefully someone will be along soon with an answer .ian .
You should have no problem using a 6 volt starter @ 12 volts. It will see more current but I've never seen one burn up that wasn't abused. I've done this in various vehicles for many years with no problem.
Bolt torque spec. charts are all over the web. Try this one.... BOLT TORQUE TABLE (//http://raskcycle.com/techtip/webdoc14.html)
