Any idea where to get the GL1 80w gear oil for the HG/OC3 rear-end in Canada? I can't keep getting it sent up from Zimmerman's.
There should be places that sell all kinds of oil in quarts, gallons, 5-gallon pails, and 55 gallon drums. Typically these same places deliver fuel oil for home heating and farm use as well. I would call around and see what you can find in your area. Good luck.
Hi Blake I did call around - Napa, Chevron and some fuel oil distributors, but none of them want to know or to help.
I will try again, but I just wondered if any of the Canadians on here had found a good supplier? I could use a 55 gal drum.
Imperial oils GL1 gear lube is Marvelube Gear Oil 80W90. Any ESSO dealer should be able to get that. Also if you are interested in a 55 gal drum Imperial Industrial oil Teresso 150 would also be a suitable oil and available in bulk. There would be an industrial outlet in any big city.
I got mine from the local NAPA. If you do a search on-line you'll come up with quite a few sources for GL 1 gear lube. Castrol Canada (//http://www.castrol.com/castrol/multipleproductsection.do?categoryId=8320042&contentId=6030553)
Boy, I have made a lot of calls on this!!! This department and that department - press 2 to get cut-off etc.
Shell have Dentax 80w90 GL1 in 20lt. @ $70. But it has been discontinued for some time - so just available until stocks have gone. Have tried to order some.
The Esso Marvelube 80w90 seems to be available half an hour from me (thanks Robert!) 20lt. is $80 and 60lt. $230
The Castrol folks have a GL1 straight gear oil product but were rather unhelpful - so I gave up (but thanks Hotratz)
And the product Zimmerman's sell is Warren Oil 90w gear oil (@ $12/gallon = $3.17/litre = same as Dentax)...distribution points in the US only.
You can also use SAE 50 wt non-detergent engine oil if that is easier to find.
How far are you into Canada? United Refining in Warren, Pennsylvania makes these oils and they are available in Warren from West Penn Oil - http://www.westpenn.com/ (http://www.westpenn.com/)
