Title: Universal Trencher Auxiliary Transmission
Post by: kyle on August 09, 2010, 05:03:13 PM
On my 1952 OC3 I have a Universal Trencher Auxiliary transmission. I am not sure the exact reduction. It bolts up right behind the bellhousing. The shaft goes from the pilot bearing all into the aux housing. I have not beenable to find a model or casting number on the unit. he installation looks almost factory but there are parts on the aux transmission that have been modified. Has anyone seen one of these setups before? There is also a Anderson Blasde on the machine.

I can send you photos of mine if you like? But I am away for a week. I will see if I have anything on file...mine is a Universal Trencher Model 3A made by Heller Engineering in CA. They took standard OC3s from Oliver and modified them - and doubled their weight and cost in the process!
Basically there are three modes in that aux. trans. Road speed - slow digging and very slow digging selected by that long lever on your right hand side if seated above the right hand track. So that's 9F 3R.
I have a brochure of you want me to send you a copy by email?
These photos are not much good, but it's a start.

and when I say very slow...I mean in low first gear you can hardly see the machine moving! It would take you about a day to turn it around
