I have my greatgrandfathers Cletrac and the only thing i know about it is that it has the model # E-76", serial # 4A398, and the number on the block is 241528. Can anyone tell me any thing about this Cletrac. I do know that it has a gas motor, a homemade blade and the tracks are 76" wide. Is there a difference in my E and the other E models, because all that mine says is E-76" any help would greatly help me out.

The serial number list I have here handy only goes back to 1939 with #5A078, so I would guess yours would be about 1937 or 38. My E-68 is #1A80 which should be about 1934.

If memory serves me right, the serial index in the back of C.H. Wendel's "Hart Parr Oliver" book says it is a late 1936 model. I think the biggest difference between yours and other E's is the track stance. Other than their width they were all basically the same. There were different engines available also. Styling changed in the late thirties I believe, but the basic tractors stayed the same.

All the E's had OOC Hercules engines, unless they were diesels, in which case they had Buda engines.
The EHG was produced in limited numbers and had different track frames. I don't believe they had central lubrication.
The wider E's such as yours used coil springs, whereas the narrow ones used leaf springs like the A's.

Your E-76 is a late 1937 model, not 1936 as I previously stated. That's what I get for trying to do it from memory !!

You should also try contacting Mary Anne at the Flyod county meuseum their contact info will be on the hopca site.
The meuseum has all the company documents (maunual, parts list etc.)from the company from some of the earlier years.
