Title: Rear Sprocket Removal
Post by: Eric on October 09, 2010, 02:06:04 PM
I am new to Cletracs and am working on restoring an HG-3.  I am currently trying to remove the rear sprocket.  I have removed the nuts and the center hub, but the sprocket is stuck.  Based upon the drawings in my service manual I should be able to remove the sprocket, but it is stuck.  I am considering using a torch to heat the area around the studs and would like some assurance that I will not cause more problems.

Thanks

Eric

Eric, Did you remove all the collet washers under the nuts? Drive a small flat blade screw driver into the slot to spread them and then pull on the screw driver to remove them. Once they are all removed try tapping around the inside lightly with a three lb sledge to loosen it. It might take a bit of force if it's been in place for a long time.
