Title: 20K rocker lube
Post by: sandman on January 15, 2011, 04:02:12 PM
I am doing a valve job on a 20k and at a loss of how the valve train is lubricated. There are no oil passages thru the head nor thru the push rods. It's hard to believe crank splash or oil vapor lubes the rockers. Any thoughts?

It originally would have had a felt sheet under the rocker cover, about 3/8 inches thick, that you soaked with oil every week I'd say (on everyday use). I would think if you oiled the rockers every couple times you run it with some heavy oil it would be fine. Or I would think you might be able to find felt material somewhere and make a new oiler.

Bob, thanks for the quick reply it does have the felt cover over the rockers I just didn't know that was it's purpose.
