Anybody out there ever seen a Cletrac in a feature film or TV ?? Used as background dressing or driven?
I think there have been MG-1s used in World War 2 movies.

Well this has been a long time ago. There was a movie that had a crawler in it and it was given a brand name all its own. They used a Cletrac as the crawler had to have electric start. That left Cat out but I think there was also a cat in the movie. It was mentioned probably 10 years ago in the HPOCA magazine. The actor was Joe E. Brown. That is the part I know about as his boyhood home is about 5 miles from here.
Was it about the Earthworm Tractor Company John? Here's the link I have to the story http://cletrac.org/pages/rip.html , but I think they may have made a movie out of it too.

Good Job !!
I knew I'd seen a Cletrac somewhere. I looked it up on IMDB and the film was made in 1936 and called Earthworm Tractor. Maybe NetFlixs has a copy?
The copy of "The Earthworm tractor co" I have had a D8 cat in it...
Earthworm Tractors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePUxupevyaU) The Movie
I have the movie "Earthworm Tractors" and I believe it was an RD-8. The tractor appeared to start direct electric, but maybe that was somehow altered for the movie. I know on some of the later Cats there was a direct electric starter option, but in the late 1930's ??? Maybe through film editing they made it look like direct start. Anyone who's interested in old equipment should see that movie.
That is no doubt an RD8 or early D8. You are right, they make it look like its direct electric start...
My MG-1 (SN-4JA836) was actually in "From here to Eternity" (1979) with Natalie Wood and William Devane - it's towing a big searchlight trailer down the beach during the invasion reponse scenes...
I got it from the guy who rented it out to the movie company - he has owned it since 1971 and it has a California auto title and license plate - now a Washington State title and plates (they didn't ask if it was tracked! :P )

Here's a screen capture of it ;)
