Well we rewired the 18 Sunday. Now it will actually start at the touch of a button from the seat!
I pulled the seat/fuel tank and got the top cover off today. I found the problem with the power turn unit...I hope... The main pressure hose going from the pump to a "T" then to the steering valves was blown. I had a new hose made, and its ready to be put back together tomorrow. Hopefully pushing dirt this weekend!

I hope the camera is operational Bob .Would imagine an 18 working would be a rare sight . Looking forward to seeing it .
I've been working on the power turn unit. There was one hydraulic hose that was blown. I fixed that, and it is better, just not quite right. Will be working on it more tomorrow. I did a round the field at the shop. It labors in second gear to move. I'm betting because the grousers are so tall it robs so much power. Mr. plasma cutter will be getting a workout!!! I get it outside again, aand the pics and vids will be soon to come.

Well it is working good now. Cleaned and straighted up the steering levers, fixed a stuck control valve and running new air lines.
Next major step is to cut the nasty grousers off!
Don't cut those grousers off!
Ok Bob, if you're gonna cut them off, bring them over and weld them on my oc-12.
You must have looked at the pics after your first post! It only pushes itself in the ground the depth of the orig grousers, unless its wet...
I won't throw them out, I could probably haul them over for your tractor... But you can weld them on! LOL

haha,I had an adventure yesterday,I needed to get a little hay from up on the hill.
I was a little greasy and there was no way my dodge with highway tires was going to make it so I figured I'd use the DDH to pull the truck up there,should be no sweat right?
Wrong,I got most of the way up the fairly steep hill and I'll be darned if Lumpy didn't start slipping,"oh oh" I thought.
Sure enough that was the end of forward movement...worse the crawler started sliding backwards down the hill,"no biggy" I though,"the truck will just roll down the hill ahead of the tractor,look over my shoulder....nope not rolling.....bad bad bad,so I pulled both brakes and waited for the crunchy noise,just before that happened the truck started rolling....try switching the gears while holding both brakes...it's nearly impossible,truck rolled to the end of the chain...bang! anyhow,finally got it all down the hill,set the blade and unhooked the truck (had to be quick unhooking since I was alone)

Hey Logger. Funny story. I can't count the number of times I have been in dumb situations and dug myself in deeper coz I had no-one to help. You know that, hmmm, how do I drive two tractors at the same time conundrum! Or one tractor quits, so you get another to haul it outta the way, then it quits too etc. etc.
Last week was trying to load an OC46. Wanted to haul it with my nice OC46. I broke a brake lever linkage at the split pin hole. OK, so drag out the other OC46 I have - a bit rough - needs some TLC. The gear lever jumps out of the rails and I cannot get it relocated, so now that one is stuck out of gear and in the way too! THREE OC46s in a row. Grrr!
I gave up at that stage...getting dark, being eaten by bugs, and didn't want to mess up the yard trying to drag them both out with a rubber wheeled tractor :-[ Those are the days when we wonder why we didn't buy something new ;D
I know what you mean Chris,sometimes I'm like "my kingdom for something that works!" haha.
Can't wait to get the shop done so I can fix some of this junk I'm trying to use....

Wow, This is a hobby, aren't hobbies supposed to be fun and relaxing? When I have a day like that, I just want to close the door to the garage and hide inside. Hope things get better for you. Just take it One thing at a time.
Its been a while since I have updated the OC18 progress, well its even been a while since I have worked on it.
I had it at my show a couple years ago and the steering wasn't working quite right. I was pushing with it a little and it got hot and oil PSI was low to non existant and it started making noise so I shut it down. Started it a couple more times and still no luck with much oil psi. So a couple years go by... I pushed it into the shop Friday. Cleaned the really really nasty oil filters and drained the oil. I got a flush of a half gallon or so of oil and it just drizzled. Dipstick still said full. Ended up the screen around the pick up was sludged off almost completely. Just plain not getting enough oil. Cleaned that up and lots of oil psi! Steering was another issue. My couple friend helpers tore into that. Ended up the air valves were just plain not working properly and needed cleaned and adjusted. Advanced the timing several degrees and it runs much smoother and snappier. I think that was the power problem.
Now just some small things and change the oil again in the near future, should be in good shape for this spring!
