Title: OC4 with DD130H engine in New Zealand
Post by: wrangler on May 04, 2011, 10:54:43 AM
G'day. as you can see I'm a proud owner of one of these beasts,, it's in pretty good order and was running, although track gear needs work and as i discovered the front crankseal needs replacing, I'm hunting up a suitable seal at the moment,
i was going to try Zimmerman's but they don't have email, Pretty slack in this day and age.. i buggered if I'm going to make a toll call international..OK OK. bitch session over
now i need to find some measurements for track roller pins as some of mine are worn and need rebuilding, but importing would be too expensive.
i also have a suspicion that Atlas Copco airtrac drill track gear might fit but need confirmation on that. ??
any info would be appreciated,
i

Hi Wrangler , Welcome to the forum . I did a quick search  and came up with an Email address for Zimmermans . It is zoc@att.net  . The post was pretty old so i don't know if it is current or not . If you go to the home page and look under parts suppliers ,there was one plce that had an email address also . Ian .

That email worked about two years ago. I'll bet it still does.

Try rnkz@att.net - that is Ray Zimmerman's address, but I have not heard from him in a while.

thanks guys for the help.
theres plenty of HG/OC3's here but not so many OC4's  and especially ready to work.
it's a later model though 1960  i guess from the numbers,
OC4-3D-60    engine#DD130 H  #3601524

Interesting dozer blade,, I've never seen one like that here in the USA.  Do you know who made it, or where it was made?

i don't know where it was made, i actually thought it was a fairly kosher item, but maybe it was designed locally for New Zealand agents,   but its well made with full six way adjustment. the hydraulic reservoir is located in behind where the lights should be and the low pressure pump is coupled onto the front of the balancer/pulley via a double  duplex chain and sprocket type of flex coupling. the blade control valve needs some attention but otherwise it all works fairly well.

yup more thanks guys, the email worked and i'm in touch with Zimmermans.. i've also replaced front crankseal  , getting new couplings for hydraulic pump. overhauling hydraulic valve, then i can start on track gear.
hope to modify a porta power  hydraulic set at work to press pins,

As far as I know they used a lot of the same parts on the airtrack undercarrages,I believe that they are the same (but you'd have to check) I'm no expert.

I have used a porta power to press out the track pins. We welded a fixture to one of our steel assembly tables, had the ram on one side and made a push pin to push out the pins and a different pin to push out the bushings. We also used a torch to heat the tracks to help in pushing the pins and bushings out. We modified the setup to push everything back in. Make sure the track is secured properly so that you do not break anything. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures to share. Good Luck.
