hi, i have a cletrac dg. it has been sitting for about 15 years now, due to a problem in the final drive. we were planting potatoes w it when it pulled a u turn in the field. the right side is completely siezed minus an inch of movement. i pulled every bolt and dropped the track. but it will not come apart, it does appear that the sprocket has been welded on solid. ? is can it come apart without taking the sprocket off? and are parts available. i do have another 68" frame but no telling what kind of shape those are in either. what are common wear items in the final?
The final drive will come off with the sprocket on. Probably the line up pins are whats holding you. It is tough to get them loose sometimes. Pounding them with a hammer might help. Worst case you might have to drill them out. Could be one of the bearings inside. If its the big outboard bearing, I think the sprocket might have to come off.

Yes the final will come off with the sprocket on. They do stick on the dowell pins as Bob has said. Later final drive covers have threaded holes for puller screws (3)to be installed into. They are right beside the dowels. The other thing that can happen is the inner bearing can turn in the bore and wear a grove in it and not want to come out. On those machines it is very important to keep the oil level up to the correct level. The transmission, differential and final drives are all part of the same lub system. The pump in the differential housing pulls the oil from the final drives and dumps it into the transmission. It over flows from the transmission to the differential and from there to the final drives. If the system is low on oil, the pump pumps the finals dry and they FAIL!! Once you get it off there is a nut that holds the inner bearing on, remove it and the bearing bull gear and spacer come off. You can then drive the shaft out of the outer bearing to the sprocket side. Zimmermans may have some used parts as that is all I know of. Where are you located?? There are two different pinions used. Early 12 tooth and later 11 tooth, both run with the same bull gear. Be sure to put in what ever one came out as both sides should be the same or it will be constantly turning which is harder on the dif.
I have a DD for parts, if you end up needing anything major. I'm in western Pa
Doug What part of western PA are you in? I'm in Bradford
