Title: Oliver Dozer found in NC, need help guys!
Post by: bulldog_mack13 on June 15, 2011, 01:09:12 PM
I found this Oliver dozer. I dont know anything about it at all. I have a fealing its going to the scrap man if I dont snag it up.

I have a few questions. What model could it be? Does it look worth saving? How hard are they to work on? Whats a fair price to pay for it?

I know its a batt. start, just missing the battery. Looks like it runs but I have no way of knowing, Thanks! , Jay

Looks to be an OC-3. From here I would say it is very much worth having. Unless the tracks have been shortened it looks like the under carriage may have very little wear. See if the engine turn freely.

These tractors are in my opinion very easy to work on and parts are pretty easy to come by.

Thanks for the info. The tracks look ok , not great but not real bad.

What should I offer to pay for it? Id really like to have it just to play with and restore here.

I agree with Hotratz, they are easy to work on and parts availability is not an issue.

Check Craigslist Tempest and the classified section on this site for price comparison.  If it were any closer, I'd snatch it up.  Looks to be in good condition overall from what I've seen.

I've love a dozer to compliment my crawler/loader.

Keep us posted.

Looks like all 30 track pads are present and lots of adjustment showing so the undercarriage is probably pretty good. If you think the owner is going to scrap it offer him a little over scrap value and go from there. It probably weighs about 3500 lbs.

$300-1200 I suppose,depends how bad you want it,I'd pay $500 for it,if I weren't at the tractor limit already.

Im going to try, I have to be at the station on Saturday to check hoses so my wife is going with money to bid on it for me. A few Minniapolis Molen(if I speed that right) tractors , few IHC's , and a Ford or two will be there. Solme older farm trucks from the 50's and 60's but nothing that I could restore. He should have sold some of his stuff 20 years ago.

When I say scrap man , I know he will be getting alot of old junk cars and equipment for low bids, I dont want to see the little Oliver go also.

That dozer doesn't look too bad to me. If the auction is advertised at all, I would expect it to go for far more than scrap. If it were in my neck of the woods, I would be happy to pay $1000 or so for it, if the motor is free and it the tracks are decent, probably more. Its an original Anderson dozer, that alone is valuable.

Whats an Anderson dozer?

Im happy to put around 1,000 in it. It had to be driven to where its at. Im sure a pull start but it has to run.

The only ad I heard about the auction on a old country radio station that not many people listen to , once ever. Im really hoping to win it.

AC Anderson was the maker of the dozer setup used on most HG's and OC-3's. Quite often you see a lot of home made dozer blades on these machines. This is the correct one, I just bought one myself, there aren't too many of them out there for sale these days.

Ive wanted a D2 or D4 dozer for a long time but the Oliver is just about the perfect size, Jay

That Anderson Imp Dozer set-up could be worth the $900 alone! A steal...
