Title: Hi from Queensland, Australia
Post by: IanR on August 26, 2011, 12:08:41 PM
Hi

I recently "retired" from a full time job in Brisbane to now be a full time farmer at Captains Mountain which is about 230 km west of the Queensland State capital Brisbane.  We have 1300 acres and are currently running 86 Charolais cross cows and heifers all of which should be in calf and due by October.  We also have 4500 olive trees that are now 10 years old from which we produce olive oil and pickled table fruit. I inherited a DDH Oliver Cletrac serial number 2L1290 and engine number S388132 (not the original engine) which I have since got working.  I have also picked up another in working order (since cannibalised) and a third not working as well as 2 spare engines in a fairly sad state.  My intention is to have 1 in good working order for regrowth control and farm earth works.  I've purchased reprints of the parts, service and operators manuals but still find I need more information that I am hoping I can get from members of this forum.

Welcome Ian! I would say you have your work cut out for you with all those cows and crops. Whatever work you "retired" from, I think you're in for more than you had before.

You've come to the right place for information and help with your Cletracs. And, so you feel right at home, we've got several Aussies on the forum here as well!

Hi Ian , Welcome from one Queensland Ian to another .

Sounds like you have a beaut sclice of paradise  there .. There are some very passioate cletrac and oliver guys here , so you should be in good hands . One tip for you , my experience with reprinted manuals is most pictures and illistrations are pretty poor quality . So keep an eye on Ebay for Genuine manuals .

As with all forums ,we love photos , so show off your pride and joy .

Thanks for the welcome and tip on manuals.  A simple example of what I cant find in my various manuals is a diagram of the thermostat and where it is located.  I wonder if I in fact have one anymore and if I do does it work.

Thanks for that - it has been removed as I suspected. In fact the manifold is made of steel now unlike the original that was made of aluminium (I think).

Blake has moved most of my posts to a new topic under the heading of "Citric Acid cleaning of radiators" in the General Area.  I'll have something to say about this process sometime after about 23rd Sept but I'd welcome any comments before then as well.
