I am planning to remove the spool valve from my Ware 3-WI loader for rebuilding.
Besides the 4 corner bolts, there is a nipple for the return line holding it in place.
Even with the reservoir unbolted from the frame, there doesn't appear to be enough room to clear the filler pipe in order to unscrew the valve.
Has anyone done this before?
Once you remove the four corner bolts the valve should come straight up. The nipple from the valve into the tank is just screwed into the valve and comes with it. There is a gasket around the pipe to seal out dirt and it may be stuck on that. The nipple is there so the return oil enters below the liquid level to reduce air entrainment into the oil.
Thanks for the input Robert, the spool valve came off without a hitch. Could not find anyone in the area to rebuild the unit so I opted for a Prince valve.
Fabed up an adapter plate and it bolted right up. A clearance issue with the supply elbow resolved with some washers.
The new valve works great and I finally have down pressure on the bucket.
Attached are some pics of the installation.

A thing of beauty! Thanks for posting. Those 3-WIs are great loaders.
