y track pads are worn down - need a reconstruction method or someone who does this for cash. Heard that some people restoring tanks are using that "rhino" bed liner stuff and a mold to make or add thickness to existing track pads - anyone out there have info on htis topic????? What you probably want is urethane "rubber". It's a two part liquid mix.....ratio varies, and so does the hardness. It can be very soft...Shore A 60....or hard Shore D 90. Molds can be silicon elastomer or ridged materials coated with a releasing agent (wax, etc). The materials are poured into the mold (hopefully without trapping bubbles), allowed to set (time varies from 1/2 hour to 2 hour gel times), then removed from the mold. I would guess it could also be sprayed on a part, but it varies from fairly runny to honey thick depending on a number of factors.
It's really tough stuff and sticks like the dickens on clean metal. It can be tricky to mess with.....reaction times sometimes come before you're ready, bubbles get caught in places you don't want them. It will sometimes stick to a mold if you don't release properly, and it will eventually leech whatever makes a silicone mold slippery and stick to the mold. If you have a lot of parts to make depend on making a number of silicon molds.
One common trade name is Devcon. There are many cheaper sources for the stuff in bulk. Look for Industrial Chemicals, Casting Materials or Plastic in the Yellow Pages.

i have some pretty nice ones for making a mold if it dont ruin them if you need i also have teh winter model on another cletrack ive still got to bring home they have steel pads bolted to them they look pretty narly gary hebring may have some brand new ones with his new business he bought ill ask and let you know hopefully today. i have a new baby boy his name is kaden and he has mechanic hands. ow ya
gary said he dont have any cletrack parts at all. bummer he just bought out southern half-track parts which is whare both my cletracks and my half-tracks are from. sorry no new track pads from there ill keep looking at other spots to find some new ones does that zimmermans place sell them??
