Post by: cmanninggc on December 16, 2011, 11:41:38 PM
My father-in-law passed and gave a cletrac to my wife and I, well I would like to know where the serial number is so iI can tell what year it is and to start getting more information on it.

You can look in the photo galleries and find out what model it might be and then somebody can direct you to a data plate location. Or post a picture of it.

Well a picture would help. On many of the Cletrac tractors the serial number is on the firewall on the engine side of the firewall . A picture would help but if not is it a 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder or a gas or a diesel. Start there.

ok, let see if this picture works, i had to go and take another picture, and i have attached it.  while trying to get the picture on this reply i came across the guy who put a v-8 in his, and mine looks like his, except for the v-8 of course.  i have looked on the fire wall and could see no tag, just looking for a year and another place where a serial number could be.  thank you for your help.

here we go hitting the post button

The picture is a W with a Wisconsin air cooled V-4 engine. Probably not a bad choice for a replacement, though it would be a little underpowered. The serial numbers on the Ws are on the top of the transmission case in front or behind the steering wheel. Not sure if the number is stamped anywhere else.

That's pretty cool. Does it move under it's own power?

sorry for not getting back in a timly manor, yes it did run under its own power until the rust in the fuel tank gummed every thing up.  luckly it died in front of the house in a good place for a lawn ornament. my kids and grand kids want me to get it back running, just will take time.  thank you for the help!!!!!
