Trying to educate myself here. I have TONS of worn track frame hangers lying about. They seem to be a weak point in the OC3 HG design.
I have seen some kind of shim or bushing fall out of some that I have disassembled.
I presume the proper internal diameter would equal that of the trunnion or 'boss' at the back of the final drive cover.
1. Is that the same diameter (inner and outer track frame hanger)?
2. How best to refurbish these for re-use?
Thanks in advance.
If I remember right, when Dad did ours, he put the track frame in the milling machine and line bored the holes and put oversize OD bushings in them.
Hope it helps
Bob
I have bored & bushed many of them myself,, but I usually do it on a custom basis to get the best fit to the boss on each machine I work on. Another way I thought of doing it was to make a ring to put over the worn boss & weld it in place. Then bore the bracket to a standard size, that way you resore both diameters for the best fit. If you only do one,,, you are putting an egg shaped part in a nice round bore,, it's an improvement, but far from perfect.
Hey Doug, Do you have an engine out of a DD? I need a crank for one.
Don't mean to hijack the post, but...
Bob
Bob,,, not really,, well I have an engine, but sort of hanging on to it for a future (hopefully) DD project. Sadly I bought a DD a few years ago minus the engine. Turns out the idiot scrapped the engine as he was planning to put some other motor in it. I later picked up an engine, but yet to do anything with it.
