Title: model 30A engine
Post by: Wisconsin H on June 02, 2012, 11:06:02 PM
Hello, I need some help with the lifter bodies on a Wisconsin model H. Are the lifter bodies one part with the side covers or does the plate come off the side of the block and the lifter bodies are separate. I gently tapped on the cover and it sounded quite tight - (did want to break the diecast metal cover). The engine is stuck and I have heard of the lifters being stuck in the bodies and breaking when you get the engine to turn over for the first time. Please let me know if you are familiar with overhead valve Wisconsin engines.

The way I understand it is the lifters come off with the diecast plate. Don't break them because they are some type of pot metal and can't be fixed I'm told!

Good luck with your project, I have a 30A myself and hope to eventually get it going someday

I think I will remove the oil pan and see if I can tell if the lifters are stuck or not. I'm going to remove the rocker arms first and check for stuck valves and take any pressure off of the valve train. I don't do well will resizing pictures but I can add a you-tube video. Thanks for your help.
