What needs to be done to an IXK3 block accept the newer insert bearings versus the old babbt?

Thanks,

I don't know for sure, But you might have to get the Babbit Machined off to fit the incerts.

What is the problem with your block? Have you priced a set of inserts for the mains and remember not all used the same thrust bearing.

The #1 main bearing babbit is pretty much gone like say 1/8 inch clearance or more. The #1 rod bearing was just about as bad. All of the shims were already gone. I had the crank turned too. So new bearings are needed. I was going to have new babbit bearings made but the shop that is helping me thought it might be easier to just machine the block and rods to fit the newer inserts.
