Title: Model F waterpump
Post by: gary ca on November 11, 2012, 06:33:12 PM
Hi, I am new to forum and have recently acquired a model F. It looks like it is leaking coolant where the waterpump shaft comes out of the block. It also looks like it has a packing nut and I assume packing on the waterpump side of the shaft. Any information on how to complete this repair would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think some rope packing would do the trick. Not sure where to get it at we had a friend give us a bunch...

It looks like some packing would fix the leaks on the waterpump side of the shaft. But where the shaft comes out of the engine there is a flat cover plate. Does packing go in there also? I was wondering if there are shaft wear issues that might make resealing difficult. Thanks,
