Title: OC-3 Springs
Post by: Kevin Aschenmeier on February 06, 2013, 05:30:22 AM
Hi.
We have been slowly getting the OC-3, 31 ready. Trouble is one of the main springs is broken.

Does anyone know if it is possible to weld the spring? Does anyone know of any substitutes that would work?

Thank you in advance.

Kevin

you cant weld spring steel without losing the temper, or "springiness"
try Chris V or Zimmermans for a replacement

You might be able to scrounge junk yards for a truck spring with the same dimensions and rate, but it would take a lot of work. I think one of the springs in my E-62 came from a vehicle. Works great and you can't tell the difference.

If you still need a spring let me know and I'll check my parts pile, I'm sure I have one.

I would just ask around.  there is plenty of people on this site that have parts piles that might be willing to help out.

I have some late HG, OC3 mainsprings available now, if its not too late. Shoot me an email.
Plus I sell new Track Frame Bottom Bolts for them, if that helps? I've only ever been able to re-use about one of those in all those I've removed! They can be really annoying  >:(
With best wishes, Chris
