Title: oc-46 ripper help
Post by: flattrack on April 06, 2013, 05:17:14 AM
Hey all,  I'm the proud owner of a 1958 oc-46 and I'm trying to find some information on the ripper attachment for the rear end.  It currently has the standard factory weights but I think the ripper would be useful.  The machine already has a three spool valve set-up so that part is taken care of.  Any info would be very helpful.   Thanks......

Hi Levi. With the Hyteco-issue Ripper, there was a vertical bracket that bolted to the rear drawbar support. This allowed for one of the 400lb. weights to be mounted up out of the way, vertically. The other counterweight would be the ripper bar itself. All-in-all, it still adds up to the 800lbs. needed. I'll post a pic or two in a minute. It'll take me longer to make a scan of the Hyteco OC4 brochure.

Sorry Flattrack. I've tried a few times to upload photos, but the site is giving me an Error message saying the Upload Folder is full. Maybe Blake can fix it? I'll try again tomorrow.

Chis, I increased the space allowance for attachments by 5000 kb. I need to decide whether to delete some of the old attachments, or ???

Thanks, Blake. I wish we could get some of the older pics back from that 'meltdown' we had. I loved that thread about Planetary vs. Differential Steering with you and Bob. But the pics are missing.

OK, back to the Hyteco Ripper...here's the weight support that bolts to the drawbar assembly

and the OC4 Ripper bar itself (if anyone knows where I can get the ripper teeth, I'd be grateful)

You're welcome Levi. Is your's the great OC46 restoration project shared on YT's site? If so that was a very inspiring job. Well done.
I am happy to sell my Hyteco Ripper unit, if you are interested? I have all the parts except I do not have the hydraulic cylinder(s) and also, as you can see, the teeth  :(
I was told the teeth are easy to find, and I would imagine the cylinders should be likewise. You can send me a personal message or email, if you are interested.
